![]() ![]() The Story of Coffee Girl and Talulah
Once upon a time there was a pink pygmy elephant with long purple hair and glittery wings on her back. Her name was Talulah JellyBean. She loved to heffalump about and do pretty pirouettes and sing at the top of her voice. Talulah had many friends, but none as full of special-ness as she. Then one day there came into her sphere a person most wondrous. Talulah was used to being the odd one in her world; a pink pygmy elephant in a world of clockwork penguins. But now, she had company. This new arrival was a pixy. She had sparkly blue skin, huge magenta wings and a buttercup yellow dress. Her hair was like soft blackened snow. Her name: Coffee Girl, Coffee for short. Talulah and Coffee Girl were Soul Sistas. From birth, they were meant to be friends, but it was only now that they had found each other. When they met, Talulah smiled, and Coffee smiled, and they hugged. They were inseparable. Together they would heffalump about and dance and do pretty pirouettes and sing at the top of their voices. "Coffee, I love you," said Talulah. "I love you too," said Coffee Girl. They were ever so happy! Such fun they had! They went on adventures and tickled penguins, and boldly skipped-to-their-lou right in front of the Greenie Hoo-Hahs, who had been known to string skipping people up by their thumbs. They lived in bliss for weeks and weeks. Those weeks were like one endless summer afternoon, full of sunshine and laughter. They thought their happiness would never end, that they would be friends till the caterpillars came home, but then the Greenie Hoo-Hahs sank to a new low of oppressiveness. One day like all the other days that came before it, they heard some horrible news from a reliable source. The Greenie Hoo-Hahs thought they were dangerous as a team; apparently their brand of free thinking encouraged fun and individuality. To separate them, they had made plans to deport Coffee Girl to a far off land inhabited by clockwork platypuses, where she would periodically be locked in a light-proof box, because everyone knows pixies die without fresh sunlight. The friends were in shock. "Those damn Greenies!", howled Talulah, "Oh Coffee, what will we do?" " Don’t worry Talulah," said Coffee Girl, "I’ve got a plan. Soon we’ll be able to kiss this place goodnight! Only, are you willing to give up everything here?" "Give up what? There’s nothing for me here! You know I’d follow you anywhere.", said Talulah. Coffee Girl replied, "No one will lead and no one will follow, we will walk side by side and hand in hand as friends." Since they knew that the Greenies were planning on coming for Coffee Girl the next day, they would make their escape that night. Much stealth was needed, in case of spies. At midnight, they snuck out of their apartment-cubbies. Together they made their way to a secret clearing. Each reached out for the other’s hand at the same time. Coffee’s slim blue fingers held firm to Talulah’s pink elephant paw. "Ready?", said Coffee. "You bet.", said Talulah. And then, they began to flap their wings. They flapped and flapped until they lifted off the ground. They were flying! Talulah had never dared to fly before, for fear of the Greenies, but with Coffee Girl , she could do anything. As they started to fly away, Talulah yelled, "Goodnight forever, you stupid Hoo-Hahs!" As they soared toward the stars, Coffee said, "I think I am going to miss the penguins, though." They flew for hours, and just as dawn was breaking, they reached it: the land of the Pixies. A land where no one ever said "No", or "Stop", or "Too Loud". A land full of ‘rejects’ just like them. Of course there were lots of pixies there, pixies of silver skin and crimson and lilac. Talulah saw other elephants too, ones with spots and stripes and plaids. Talulah met ever so many new people. She met a miniscule navy giraffe named Basil, and a huge lime green winged bear named Felix. Everyone in the land of pixies was just as nice as Coffee Girl. Whenever it rained everyone would rush outside, and hundreds of people would dance together in the rain. They had contests to see who could sing the loudest, and Coffee was even teaching Talulah some pixie magic. Talulah had never been happier. Felix had been giving her special smiles, which always made her giggle madly, and she was almost certain there was something going on between Coffee and Basil. One day the four of them were sitting on a hill looking at the sunset. Felix and Talulah were holding hands, and Basil had his arm around Coffee Girl. Coffee turned to Talulah and said, "Everything sure worked out like cherries, didn’t it?". "It sure did.", said Talulah, and everybody smiled. And so they lived together in happiness forever.
The Beginning.
